In the heart of Hradec Králové, the ambitious project ‘Forestry in the Forest’ is set to redefine the architectural landscape of the Czech Republic. Designed by the innovative firm CHYBIK + KRISTOF, this remarkable building will emerge as the largest timber structure in the country, symbolizing a significant shift towards sustainable construction. With a vision to challenge industry norms and promote timber as a viable material for large-scale development, this project is also the new headquarters for the Czech National Forestry.
Five Elongated Timber Volumes
The design features five elongated timber modules, each dedicated to different departments of the National Forestry. These interconnected structures create a central hall, fostering a collaborative spirit and a seamless connection with nature. By drawing in panoramic views of the surrounding foliage and weaving in courtyards, the architects ensure that the workspace harmonizes with the natural environment.

The walls will be constructed using the two-by-four system, CLT panels for ceilings and large spans, along with glued wooden trusses.
