Celebrating Creativity and Community Impact Through Canstruction
On October 10, 2025, the Canstruction Greater Lehigh Valley competition showcased the power of creativity and philanthropy. This year, the event brought together four local teams who built impressive sculptures using over 20,197 cans, all of which were eventually donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank. The engaging event not only highlights engineering skills and artistic expression but also addresses hunger in the community, emphasizing the collaborative spirit necessary to create something impactful.
Monsters of Metal Take the Lead
Among the competitors, ATAS International’s Monsters of Metal team excelled, garnering three out of six awards. Led by passionate co-captains Kevin Klersy and Patrick Reinhart, their sculpture featured the beloved video game character Sonic the Hedgehog. This colorful creation was an impressive assembly of 3,000 cans, showcasing items from black beans to yams, skillfully arranged to depict both Sonic and his nemesis, Dr. Eggman.
